Carls Bar & Lounge is an impressive new restaurant located in the port of Hamburg, overlooking the newest city landmark the Elbphilarmonie. Set out in three different areas, each with their own unique ambience, Carls Bar & Lounge is owned by the Hamburg Hotel Louis C. Jacob, the name Carl being part of the famous Jacob dynasty. The Bistro area is a bright space with high seating, a huge open plan kitchen and shelves stocked with goods on display, including a large wine cabinet, all adding to the bistro feel. The food is simple and tasty ranging from tartines to quiches to salads and the wine list offers inexpensive wines from both France and Italy. The Brasserie is a first class area, colourful with leather banquettes, chandeliers and dark wooden floors where the food is a cross between French classic such as beef bourguignon with chive purée and North German cuisine like marinated green herring. Each of the 120 seats has stunning views over the harbour of Hamburg. Finally Carls Private Bar & Lounge area is an exclusive zone for private parties and offers direct access to the promenade.
