Munich’s Weinhaus Neuner restaurant not only forms an integral part of the city’s history, it also holds its own on Munich’s thriving restaurant scene offering a superb menu of regional cuisine. Dating back as far as the 15th century, the Weinhaus Neuner has history that’s for sure and is a listed building within the city. The restaurant still maintains the original arches and vaults as well as the cellars and exhibits some incredible artwork, mostly by the artist Eggert which now hold eminent historical value. The wine merchant Neuner purchased the building in 1852 and it has remained in the Neuner family to this day, hence the name Weinhaus Neuner. Many a Munich celebrity has frequented this popular restaurant over the centuries, including both Richard and Siegfried Wagner and the painters Franz von Lenbach and Franz von Defregger. Of course the wine list is full to the brim of exquisite offerings, as it should be, but the menu is top class as well. The home smoked beef is second to none. Weinhaus Neuner is an elegant and refined restaurant where both the gourmets and historians among us will feel very at home. A true Munich landmark.
